A little bit about me.

Elsewhere on the internet, you can see the me that is a copywriter, editor, and content strategist that helps brands solve problems with words.

Bump into me in person on a Saturday, and you’ll see the me that’s a dad, coffee addict, and giant nerd who loves Dungeons & Dragons and personal knowledge management.

Both “me”s are real. But somewhere in the intersection of the two is a guy that loves stories, ideas, and helping people—and it’s that guy who shows up every day to do this “content” thing (and knows he’s lucky to do so.)

Professionally, I pride myself on taking the "craft" aspects of content strategy and marketing seriously, and I love using that craft to help people bring their passions and goals to life. It's creatively satisfying, helps the folks around me, and—as a professional word nerd—is honestly just plain fun.

See, I’m not shy about the fact that I get passionate about things. I enjoy research and learning new things, and generally I’m pretty good at it.

Left on my own, I tend to write about food & coffee, ethics, self-improvement, and the odd bit of media criticism, but I pride myself on being a bit of a generalist.

Whatever your thing is, I’m probably pretty interested in making it my thing, too.

A few years ago I made my nerd-dom official with a master’s degree from Purdue University. My main focus was ethics and value theory—studies into what’s the right thing to do and what ideas like “duty” and “value” really mean. (Think Chidi from The Good Place.)

While there, I picked up research and presentation skills, figured out how to do long, self-guided projects, and got very good at turning technical info into something easily understandable. I taught college courses on ethics, philosophy, and critical thinking to undergrads, and made a short career of teaching and freelancing before deciding to put my skills to use elsewhere.

Since then, I’ve been in-house at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Momentary.

As the Editorial and Marketing Content Manager, I lead a small team that creates friendly, accessible, and effective content. We write ad and sales copy, landing pages, email newsletters, web content, blogs, UX copy, and more.

In particular, I serve as our team's senior copywriter and managing editor, oversee content development, help with content strategy and audience journey development, and generally handle the marketing and editorial content lifecycle from end to end.

I help with content-related project management, streamline publishing processes, and work with the larger Brand Strategy & Communications team to bring the institution's mission and stories to life.

In short: I oversee words that tell stories and sell things. And I absolutely love it.

Basically, I thrive wherever ideas and people come together. If there happens to be coffee, all the better.

I'm always interested in finding new opportunities to apply strategic thinking to content, copy, and storytelling.
